I'm considering purchasing a new to me lathe, it's a General 25-650 that's a few years old, but has hardly ever been used. I would like to get some feedback on what some of you think of this model, plus I would appreciate knowing what you would think a lathe like this would be worth? Are there any inherent problems that you know of, or is there usually nothing to worry about? Thanks for any advice that you can send my way.

Len I have one as well and a few years old. I love it. One oof the drawbacks is there is no spindle lock other than the indexing head and screwing in the pin. I use a 4" length of brass rod and it works fine. The 1-1/4" spindle is turned down to 1" through the bearings, I did not know this till I got it home. I have had the machine about 3years and have not had any problems at all. It is very heavy the Headstock takes 2folks to install but I am 70 YO and cannot lift much.
All in all I think it is a good machine.

Thanks Don, if spindle lock is the only issue, that would be fine as far as I'm concerned.
