I purchased this coping saw at an antique store for $3. It is a Diamond Edge made for the Novell Shapleigh Hardware Co. of St. Louis. It has a rosewood handle and holds the blade position with solid detents. Anyone have any info on the suppliers of Shapleigh saws? Thanks.

No coping saw experts? Anybody got any ideas on were to look for info on coping saws?

The information available on the internet doesn't seem to cover much about this. There is some information about the Shapleigh Company history but it doesn't list suppliers.

My thought was always that they were a manufacturing and marketing company somewhat like Simmons hardware and Keen Kutter.

I looked into this one time to try to determine how old a scythe of mine might be. The Shapleigh trade mark being from before 1864 was about all that could be determined.
