Here is the result of a evening in the shop. I took it to work today and applied 10 coats of General finish's wood turners finish. I wet sanded it with 1200 grit and then buffed it with white diamond. I have been real busy and not have a lot of me time at the lathe. The finial is walnut with sharpie for added black coloring.
Comments welcome, good or bad. Thanks. Russell

Nice work Russell! How do you like working with the Wood Turners Finish?

Roger it is very easy to use. I like it any time I want a gloss finish. After the first coat I sand with 400 grit. Then put on 4 or 5 coats and knock it back flat with 0000 steel wool. Add a few more coats and then wet sand and buff. I put the finish on while at work, and it makes no odor at all.

I really like this piece. I really like the very gentle curve from the bottom up it makes it look very regal. Your finial is beautiful and the finish is outstanding.

It it is a very nice piece. Great form and finish, the finial may be a bit tall but it is well done.

I really like the heartwood/sapwood combination and the way it works with the form. Nicely done.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Dennis the finial is not threaded. I may turn a different one today, just to see what it looks like.

This is a lovely execution of a more formal piece with great lines and finish. Nice work

Well done piece. The finial looks nice and the sharpie coloring works. I wouldn't have thought that you could get such a consistent coloring with a sharpie. I like the form of the HF

Beautiful wood. The form is nice. I think the finial could be smaller, but it looks good.
