I bought a used sliding table saw online and now need to have it shipped from Florida to Vermont. The classification rules that determine shipping charges seem rather obscure, and I've been told it's a good idea to know what that classification should be when asking for a quote. The saw will be palletized, has a density of about 13 lbs/cu. ft. and can be shipped business to business with a forklift at either end. Any advice other than trusting to freight agents for the class?

85 is what we always used

85 as well. Try to get photos of at least the finished crate, if not the crating process showing the machine pre-shipping, and you may want to get insurance. I don't remember how CL 85 calculates value, but it is probably too low for a slider.

I had really good luck with freightquote on a machine I bought a while back. I have an account with them for the shop but do very little ltl but the price was right with insurance. No shenanigans on the billing either.
