its 9 7/8" diameter

my advise to anyone who wants to turn one

DON'T DO IT

it's hard on you your lather and your tools

Now that is different---I bet it takes awhile to turn that and getting the finish right would be a real job.
Looks cool-- but your right I do not think I will give that one a try.

Aw c'mon Chris. You show us something that looks as nice as that and then say don't try? What are you trying to do to us. Seriously, it looks great. Nice work. Good choice of scheme as well.

Chris, it looks great! Any details on how you did it?

Did you glue up a solid base with "roughed out rings". In other words did you cut out the center of the layers so that there was less "hollowing"?

i use a standard segmented construction

designed using woodturnerpro

there is not a finish on it


its just sanded to 8000

and then buffed

Very nice. I love the colors, the shape.. well everything about it.
