I ran Microsoft antispyware, Spyware Doctor and Adaware just a few minutes ago and the Spyware Doctor says it found something called Specific911 Hijack. What is it and should it be removed? I just got the Verizon DSL and I think that it might have been installed with the installation disk for the DSL.

Thanks,

Bob

Just got off the phone with Verizon . They were NO HELP!! They said that it is my decision if I want to remove it. I asked them if it is included with the installation software, They did not know.

Specific911 falls into the spyware/malware catagory.

From the web, "Specific911 Hijacker may redirect your Web searches through its own search engine and change your default home page. It may also change your other Internet Explorer settings."

Perhaps more of a pain than a threat. Nuke it.
