260888260889260890260891260892260893Well I got the pictures to work. The VFD and motor are hooked together and running. Now the problem of pulley's begins. As you can see in pic's 2,3,5,this is the reeves drive with the middle sheave moving back and forth as one belt tightens and one loosens.Pic 4 this is were the Reeves drive is located so putting in a set of pulley's for a high and low range moved manually is going to be a problem.
cost adding up:
link belt: $40.00
Brakeing resistor $21.13
3ph emer stop switch:$8.82
cable for wired remote:$37.50
remote mount: $13.00
total for this round: $120.45
Still have to get pulleys,THEN MOUNT EVERYTHING AND MAKE IT RUN.
Will try to keep posted as I go.

Harry. Looking good. What are the issues with leaving the reeves drive alone? Seems like it would give more versatility an torque adjustment.

The reason I'm removing the Reeves drive is all reeves drives put a constant fine vibration in the machine. I have had it in with the var speed DC drive for the reason you mentioned, better torque. But I just can't stand the vibration so I'm removing it and going to the 2hp 3ph AC drive like most lathes today.

Noise as well as vibration in the General 160 as well as all other Reeves drives. I see that you also added a thumb screw lock to keep the original selector handle from creeping.
