I had a couple of 3/16" pieces of oak I needed to bend around a fairly sharp radius and came up with this quick setup last night to steam them with. Took a turkey fryer and put about 6" of water in it and got it boiling. Cut a 1/4 piece of scrap ply for a lid and cut a hole in it for a 3" pipe to stick thru. Then just put the pieces one at a time in the pipe for about 5 to 6 minutes each. The setup produced a large amount of steam and seemed to work well.

i don't know a lot about turkey fryers, but that looks like a really good idea.

That looks much better than my permanent set up, a tea pot, a cardboard tube and some fabric to act as a door.

A turkey fryer is just a propane burner and a big pot. I think I have fryed one turkey back when i first got it. I typically use it for boiling large quanities of seafood most of the time.

Nice setup. Steamers don't have to be fancy. Last time I needed to steam bend something I went to Goodwill and bought a clothes steamer and ran the hose up to the plywood steam box we knocked together.
