While visiting Jim Adkins, I had him demo me the techniques to drill and chuck up pepper mills. Theses are the first two. The natural colored one was the one I made while at Jim's and I made the second one at home. Both are crush grind and approximately 10" tall. C & C welcome

#1 is quilted maple and WOP

Yeah I left a foot on the second one and am so so on that. Mostly it was a hmmm now what moment. I was using the foot as a tenon!

Nice mills, Scott. I hate to plagerize, but, "Love the colors on #2".... Were they thin enough? Lol...... Jerry (in Tucson)

Very nice, unique shapes. Love the crush grind mechanisms. Care to comment on drilling/chucking methods?

Bob, We used the instructions available on Craftsupplies web site with a few additions. First we add a tenon that is about 1/8" larger than the top part of the crush grind mech, on the top section and open out the bottom section of wood to accept the tenon. We also made several jam chucks to fit in the ends after drilling.
