Hoping there is an electrician or someone sharper on motor wiring than I.

i have an old Dayton 4K856 motor that was on my 50's era Delta lathe. It did run but I upgraded motors. Flash forward to today and I want to use this motor in another machine. It is a 3/4hp,1725rpm,115/230 volt.

The wiring schematic is gone and the current model of this motor at Graingers have a different wire setup. The set up is six wires, 4 black and two white. The blacks are numbered 1,2,3,4 and the whites are 5,8.

i have no clue which wires to attach for 115 volt operation. I've googled it but found nothing that matches this wire number or coloring. Any ideas?

This will fix you up:

Any other questions ask away, I'm a retired electrician but there are others on here as well.

Thanks Bill, that's just what I needed. The motor just buzzes and tries to slowly turn so I think I may have a bad capacitor. I checked it with my DMM according to online info and it's bad. Off to the electronics store!
