260707I've built a few pieces for my kids over the years, but I haven't done anything Dani since she moved off to college. I decided to combine some pottery work with a bit of wood turning and general wood work. They are being built out of Brazilian Cherry so far.

I kinda wish I would have used a sliding dovetail on the leg joints. I think I will pin throught the tenon from the bottom.

Thanks Roger, I went back and increased the size of the photo with the pottery.

Like the design and your implementation. I think the scale of the stand and the pottery is not correct. The vases appear undersized in comparison to the wide based stand.
Just IMHO

Tables are completed. I altered the design and decided not to insert the rings I had made for the top. I was afraid if I did the pour on finish over the rings it would have cheapened the look of the pieces. I like the way the turned out, kinda unique! What do you think?

Beautiful, Dan! Nice combination of materials and techniques. The figure and color of the wood is stunning.

I like this much better than my impression of the initial plan (which was likely incorrect). The integration of the two media is a very nice touch. Are the vases supporting the tables or is there a continuous wooden support inside.

Nice job on the tables. The combination of the pottery and wood makes for a very interesting and nice combination. I think your daughter will be pleased.
