My wife teaches firearms classes and has to tote a large amount of handguns, ear protection and paperwork.

She's tried suitcases, rolling duffels and tool bags. They are either too unwieldly or fall apart. Often times she has to take them up stairs or across parking lots.

I am thinking of the stackable tool cases that probably many tradesmen use. Something that is secure and could be loaded individually from the car and then stacked on a rolling platform. Ideally I would like to outfit it with foam dividers so doesn't have to carry individual cases for each firearm.

Does anybody have any recommendations of brand or type?

Thanks!

There are a lot of factors that go into what kind of cases you choose. But for moving them around, I've got one of these and not the one with extra wheels and its pretty amazing how it stands up to abuse. I don't even want to think how much I've dragged around.

I see these on almost every jobsite I'm on, to the point that it's on my "to get" list.

I can see it working on a range just fine.http://www.amazon.com/Stanley-020800R-FatMax-Mobile-Station/dp/product-description/B000V29B7K

The Fat Max looks intriguing, my only concern would be the weight involved with 10 or 12 handguns and several binders full of paper. I don't think she could lift the entire case into the back of her Tahoe.

Something with stackable, interlocking boxes would be ideal. That way she could take them individually out of the car and latch it onto a rolling platform. I see several styles like this, I was just hoping somebody had first hand experience using one. She would destroy a cheap set of hollow plastic wheels pretty quickly.

ShopNotes current issue (Vol 22 Issue 129) has an article about these cases on page 46. Probably at your local grocery store now. Stackable different height cases with inserts and separate wheeled dollys. Made by Tanos and Sortimo

Lee Valley does sell the Tanos Systainers which sounds like they should fill the bill. They have all sorts of containers that latch together as well as wheel and dolly systems. These are the same containers that Festool uses. Apparently they are one of the container standards in Europe. Cost may be an issues since they are a little more expensive, but it sounds like you have experience with the low cost options.

I use a rolling box I got at Home Depot. It has a hidden handle that pulls out for wheeling it around. I think it cost around $60.

These are interesting;

Add a lightweight folding handcart to get them from vehicle to range and you should be in business.
