I just picked up a Delta Wood Lathe in an auction and the school couldn't find the tail-stock for it. I called Delta and was given a quote for about 400.00 for a tail-stock. Anyone know where I can find one or which tail-stocks are compatible with this model lathe? I see a few on ebay but not sure how to determine if the lathe will fit or not.

The two dimensions you need know are the "swing" of the lathe and the width of the gap between the "ways". Any tailstock that matches these dimensions will fit. You can also check at owwm.org in the BOYD section (Bring out Your Dead) to search for a tailstock and/or post a wanted to buy ad. There is currently an ad for a Delta 1460 tailstock that may fit.

It's a 12". You won't find the part at owwm. Tai-Chi-wanese.

Wouldn't a different model or brand still work if the swing and ways are the same?

Could always ask the owner of a 1460 for the measurements.
