Started a upgrade to my General 160-18. I have a DC drive 3/4hp which I thought was a 1hp.It's running throw the Reeves drive on my lathe which put's a slight vibration in the lathe from the moving pulley's. This new drive is a 220v 2hp 3ph Automation Direct VFD and 2hp motor. It will run direct from motor to spindle and I hope make a smoother and higher torque lathe.I'm going to try and give everyone a running record of cost and work to do this.I hope this will help others if they decide to do this. http://www.woodcentral.com/webbbs/media/turning/467/467225_1.jpg http://www.woodcentral.com/webbbs/media/turning/467/467225_4.jpg http://www.woodcentral.com/webbbs/media/turning/467/467225_2.jpg http://www.woodcentral.com/webbbs/media/turning/467/467225_3.jpg http://www.woodcentral.com/webbbs/media/turning/467/467225_5.jpg
Pricing:
VFD=$241.00
Motor=$166.00
Wire, Emeg sw box, connectors, plug=$44.00
Emeg switch= had this
So, so far cost is $451.00 the pictures are the old drive and the one I'm putting in.
Had to paste here and now the pictures wont resize. Couldn't get my picture onto this forum for some reason,resized and still wouldn't post?
