So my wife found this picture of some cabinets online and has deemed this as THE color/style she wants in our master bath remodel that might actually start later this year.

I have my ideas on it...what are yours?

Thanks,

Chris

I'm no finishing expert but I would do a light color wash (50% paint mixed with 50% solvent) and while still wet wipe down to get desired grain exposure. Let that dry completely and then apply the dark wash (glaze). While still wet wipe down to get effect desired. Let dry and then overcoat with clear finish.

Just a wild guess, I'd say it's pickled, sanded lightly and randomly, then stained and/or glazed, then clear-coated (possibly some clear coat under the stain and/or glaze).

I'd say an off white base, followed by a deep brown glaze.

What Jason said....many steps to get there!

Yeah, I figured it would be a pain. Thankfully, it is a bathroom so I only need to do a vanity and a shelving unit so not too awful. :)

I think it's a faux finish--totally painted but it could be what they used to called a limed oak finish.
