You can see the whole story Here (http://www.johnswoodshop.us/New%20Shop%20Construction.htm) Thanks again for all the friendly advice and the words of encouragement. Next is the painting, and then the lights will go in, and then the floor.

John, one tired camper :o

Hi John

YOu are making great progress with your shop. I am just curious though, Is your door wide enough to get equipment through?

Good Job!

Looking good, John! I hope you have an airless sprayer available...it would be great to paint those walls and the ceiling before you put anything else in there and spraying would make it quick.

JoeJoe,

Thanks! Yes, the door is the same width as the door at the top of the stairs leading to the basement. I measured the equipment and all of it will fit down there. I have a whole 3" to spare on the table saw

To all,

Thanks for the encouragement! I am going to rent an airless sprayer and spray it. Then I will put the floor in. Monday, the electricians will be back to hook up the sub panel and the lights will go in. I think it will be plenty bright! Right now though it looks like the OSB cave :D

Thanks again!
John

Hey JOhn,

Things are looking good - nice job...

I had a thought.........you could put a raised wooden floor area where your bench & hand tools are going to be.....maybe just some 2x4's on edge with plywood flooring. It would make for more cushion on the feet and save a "tool falling"........since your still customizing....

I am going to be putting a sub floor in the entire shop. Just like this.

It's called DriCORE (http://www.dricore.com/en/eindex.htm) It cost me $1.40 per square foot but when I figured out the benefits over a 20 year time frame, I thought it would be worth it.

John - You are motivating me to overhaul my basement shop. Someday I would like to drywall the ceiling and paint the walls. Once you get some paint on the walls it will look fantastic.
