Hello, Here are a bowl & plate from White Oak Burl. I have asked this question before. What would be a good item to put in the photo to show size of a turning? I have used a Dollar Bill a Coin a Wine Bottle. I have seen others use a Ruler a Coffee Cup etc. I would like something everyone is aware of the size of. Something classy would be cool. Open to suggestions and C&C of welcome. Thanks, Kevin 259609 259610

Really nice wood and great looking pieces. For scale ??: a single red rose, a handful of shotgun shells and some wheat sheaves, a couple of apples and a banana, some car keys and a handful of lose change....be creative.

Great looking pieces Kevin. I especially like the platter and the way grain is aligned and almost seems to be framed. Perhaps a pen if you have one from the same oak burl?

I took a chance and took a few more photos with everyday items. 259628259629

Since its dinner time I would definitely go with the wine and bread. When it was 85 this afternoon and I was working up a sweat my choice might have been different.:D

well, on some forums the picture of forms, you should not be able to tell the size from the picture, the item would seem to be floating in space, size does not count on form and beautiful wood

And of course, white wine always goes good with white oak burl...

very very nice. I just recently found my first oak burl after picking through a few trees the power company had removed. I hope mine turns out half as nice. It was much smaller, the blank would only yield an 8" bowl....so maybe a 6 pack for reference?

I would like to thank everyone for the nice comments. As the weather breaks and Basketball Season heats up I start throwing the B-ball around in the driveway. This year I had to get a new ball so I used259825259826 it to compare size. I also made a small box with the scraps of Oak Burl with a Birdseye lid. Thanks again, Kevin

First of all, gorgeous pieces! I would suggest something that would lie flat in front of it, and not obscure the work or draw attention from it. The basketball is a little stark for me. Larger objects like these pose more of a challenge than something small would, where a dime or a quarter could be used. A rolling pin might work, or a couple of dollar bills, maybe a $1,000 bill if you are looking to sell them. :)

Beautiful pieces. I like the wine and bread, but I suggest you use the little wine bottles from airlines so it looks about 5 feet across.

Beautiful wood and turnings. I like the big platter the best. Well done.
