I tried to laser cut 1/4" exterior plywood for an outdoor project and can't get through the plywood all the way. So I am looking for alternatives for an exterior cut through sign. Can Hardiplank be cut through with an engraver? I have a 50 watt Versalaser VLS3.60 engraver.

Any other materials I could be successful with?

Thanks

I am going to go with no on the HardiPlank that stuff is hard enough to cut with a saw or drill through I doubt the laser will touch it.

Courtesy of Wikipedia: "Fiber cement is a composite material made of sand (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sand), cement (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cement) and cellulose (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cellulose) fibers."

Most likely result is burnt cellulose and some very hot sand & cement!
