I am sure they are all good.
Any strong opinions that one is best? Why?

for the PC routers, if you are planning to use bigger cutters, the variable speed may be a requirement. I've got a big 220v pc router in my pin router, and a 120 variable speed router for a router table, and they both seem OK.

I think many consider the PC 7518 the standard. The PC 7519 has a single speed.

Borrowed from an author on another site:

The 7518 and 7519 are fixed base 3.25 hp routers
7519 is a single speed router
7518 is a variable speed router with 5 selectable speeds

The 7519 will need to utilize an external speed control device if you are going to use the large router bits for raised panels as opposed to the built in internal 5 position speed control on the 7518.

Here is a link to a previous discussion of the Milwaukee 5625 on this site to help you decide. It discusses a couple other routers as well:

Don't you need to rewire the soft-start on the 7519 to be able to use an external speed control ?

I thought the 7519 was variable speed. Well, I can cross that one off.

5625 or 7518

I use a 5625 in 2 of my tables (2 bases) and have, on occasion, run it for 8 hours. Brushes are easy to change. Replaced one switch in 10 years.

I have 2 x 7518 Routers.. One needs bearings and parts, I picked it up at an auction for cheap. The other was purchased new and has been great.

I ordered the parts from Porter Cable roughly 3 months ago ? Still waiting for the switch slider.. Its a $2 part .. This post reminded me that I should probably call about that part again ..

I like my new 7518 but with the rash of blown variable speed modules and the $100 price for the part .. I would probably go Milwaukee in the hopes that it was better..

Having said all that ... I picked up a spare for under $100 needing bearings and a slide lever .. So whenever it gets rebuilt, I am probably never going to get to own the Milwaukee..

I'm still waiting for a power user to swap in a chinese electro spindle with vfd in place of a router. My guess is it would have a router as a mid morning snack.

5625 it then.

Now I just have to decide whether to get a PRL-V2 or Sidewinder. The crank sure looks easier to use, but it's fussier to install. Probably the sidewinder.

I have a 5625 installed in a PRLV2 for about 4 yrs. Both have been 100% problem free and are an incredible combination. I don't have the sidewinder option as mine is built into a Norm style table and the cable would interfere with the drawers. Maybe I don't know what I'm missing, but the lift is a joy to use as is.

I ordered the 5625 and a sidewinder today.
Next week I get to stick it in my SS right side table. The guy at SS CS told me he put a router in his, so how hard can it be?

I only have experience with the 7518 in my router table but it has been perfect going on 10 years now.

I installed one on my cnc. Ask any questions you might need.

I use a Hitachi X200 VFD controlled via modbus on the cnc with teh spindle. You would not need that on the router table although if you did and you used a cheap controller and mach you could have it raise/lower lift for you too and power up and change speed and control the water pump via a few clicks/key presses.

Looks great. What do you think about the performance compared to a big router?
