I won the action today, got a 36inch bandsaw, and I found a 5hp motor to power it. I know this isnt a turned item or a lathe, but its gonna be my bowl proccessor, after hookup, and rust removal, and paint,,,,,
Goin up tommorow to pick it up, which will be an adventure,,,, I cant wait to set it up. Would it be gloating too much to mention what i paid?:p

Wow---that's a sawmill, not a bandsaw. Lucky guy. That euc. log really pushed your button yeah.

That was another creeker.
But up until this all I had for making blanks was chainsaw and chisels and files. I would cut a peice as large as possible for my lathe, have one cut be not quiet straight, then have it not fit on the lathe in one spot by just abit. Then have to either try cutting a rolling peice of wood, or remove with chisels. This will also make starting from square blanks alot easier.

Ok, I'll take the bait, what did you pay for it? I'm guessing 20 cents/pound.

Cheers,
David

Curtis,
Does that old guy run on babbits or bearings. My guess is the table alone will weigh as much s a 14" Delta saw. Good luck restoring it. If it all works like it should it will be a wonderful saw to own.

Great find. I was looking a a couple bandsaws like that on the IRS Auction, but they were too far away from me to get involved and they are probably too big for my shop. You can sure find some great buys on there, however. I have bought two lathes from them over the years (one new and one used).

Great looking band saw, that should cut anything you want. Really will be interested in seeing it restored. And I am also curious about what you had to pay for it. I wouldn't have room in my shop for that huge machine. Good luck with it............Tim.

Nice saw. It is really cool to see a saw with so much mass. It does look like a head rig in a sawmill. We just worked on our right side head rig this week. The wheels are 8' diameter, just a tad bigger than yours.

Cool looking saw Curtis. Picking it up and getting it home should be an adventure in itself!

no 3 phase power,,,,, but a 5hp old baldor motor thats 33 amp single phase might power it :p

The table does weight atleast 100 pounds, but suprisingly is only held on by 2 bolts.
Hopefully tommorow i can get a guy to bring up a pettibone to unload it
