I'm looking for a hardware piece for a commission job.
I've seen them before, but I have no idea what they're called. Basically, it's just a post socket that fits in a countertop or floor that has a spring loaded plug in it. The plug sits flush with the top of the socket and then depresses out of the way when you put the post in it. That way, crap doesn't accumulate in the post hole.
anyone know what these are called or where to find them?

Just google pop up receptacles.

The word 'receptacle' will get you electrical stuff.

Is this (http://www.cupboardsonline.com/2012/01/genius-moment-carlon-pop-up-receptacle.html) what you have in mind? If so, you will be able to find more by googling " pop up receptacle".

Richard, I'm curious what that will be used for in your kitchen project.
