What species is this?

This is the door from an antique piece I'm refinishing. The pic shows it freshly sanded and stained with a dark walnut, no top coat yet.

Any ideas on the species? My wild guess is spalted walnut.

My guess is un spalted black walnut, interesting match, makes an otherwise odd cut of wood look quite striking.

nice book match - can't see a single seam. I have tried that a couple of times with mixed results - nothing in that class though - sigh - I am such a rookie.
