most are about 6" in length

The body is made out of a 2"x4" block and turned and hollowed to lighten and a small tennon is turned. The top is a 3"x4" plus block hollow it out to
lighten, put a recess to match the tennon onthe base. The acorns are the smallest i could find and super glued to the bottom. Finnish is lacquer.

yes i have had one that split in half while turning. Usually i use a small carbide bit in my dremell tool to clean out the crack and fill it with epoxy.

I get them at hobby lobby. They are made in china i guess like everthing else. Would like to use more realistic looking birds, but they are to
big for the houses.
