April Fool's Day..!!!!! (just a reminder)

I hope that each of you had a good Easter weekend, I know we did.

Came down with bronchitis and a sinus infection about 10 days ago and I've been on meds for 7 days now. I'm finally starting to feel a bit better now and I finally got out of the bed/off the couch from feeling really bad this past Saturday. This hit me really hard this time and I can't remember the last time I was this sick for this long. I normally don't get sick....so maybe I was past due. ;)

No woodworking for me from this past weekend but I do hope and pray that I get to do some woodworking in the next couple of weeks.

Today, the LOML Jr and I will attempt to cook the LOML a birthday dinner. I'm going to try my hand at smoking some chicken breasts and a pork loin on our gas grill. For all you purists out there....I know.....but I'm using what I have. If all goes well, then maybe I'll look at getting more into this, but I can't be "into" everything I try my hand at. I'm usually not a cook, unless it's breakfast....but....I'm going to try this and see how I do.

So what did YOU do this past weekend?
Best of weeks to you all.!!!

I reorganized my sock drawer.

Well, sort of. I am moving into my new shop so I got a bunch of small things done. Plywood restacked, drill press moved to it's permanent place in the shop, lumber stacked out of the way (behind panel saw), and lastly I repaired a damage Y fitting for my bandsaw dust collection.

All small things but satisfying to get them all completed.

No woodworking for me unless you count moving some plywood across the shop. Saturday morning I tuned and prepped all the handheld gas powered lawn equipment and checked each over for any other attention they might need. Saturday afternoon was a get together at my MIL's. In the evening we watched Life of Pi which my wife apparently thought was going to be a cute story about a boy and his tiger. Sunday more lawn equipment tuneups--drained the oil from the chipper, tore it down to get to the blades, got them removed and sharpened, and did the tuneup before heading over for dinner at my parents. When we got back home I changed oil and blades on the mower and changed the oil on the tractor. I'm sure we are due for a major snow as I left the blade and loader off the tractor when I was done. :D Still have more to do--generators, pressure washer, and the Mule.

Long week last week for me. It was compounded by my wife's relapse of the flu. So dog park each morning. It was too humid and cool to spray lacquer, so I worked on a couple of projects. I built a quick and dirty cove cutting jig. Then I cut some coves out of maple. These were the coopered and gued up into a curved top for a box I am building. While components were drying on the top, I started my bench on bench. The basics were completed last night and I need to build the legs and cut dog holes.

wow, you guys are making me feel productive. I was able to complete 1 project and start on sanding another.
I made a new screen door to my porch. The opening is an odd size so I couldn't buy a standard on so I just made a custom door.
The second project is a farm table. I've had a few friends and relatives ask me about making a farm table so I figured I'd give it a shot with some cheaper lumber before I used any expensive reclaimed stuff. A local lumber yard had some decent looking white pine so I figured, what the heck.

Pretty nice weather for a change so I decide to collect some wood, a thirty four inch Burr Oak. Gosh, how I wish it was White Oak. I bucked it up into three 11 footers,a 12 footer, a 10 footer, and one nine footer. It was still 22 inches on the little end. Today, I started dragging them up with my little antique Ford. My log yard is about a mile away. Now lets see at 23 cents a foot. .23x????? OUCH!!!

We've been doing some remodeling at the house and the loml decided we should upgrade our newell posts while we're redoing our staircase. I thought that was a great idea until I saw the prices on the big ones we wanted. So I did what any self respecting ww'er would do and built my own over the past week after work. Didn't see my wife much this week but figured I saved us about a thousand bucks or so...

Made some progress on my "backwall" unit, restacked all of the lumber for my upcoming new bench onto my handy dandy transmission cart. Today, I picked up the hardware for attaching the casters for the backwall unit, drilled for the casters, ran a 3/8" brad point bit into a screw..., for some reason, the brad point bit don't cut so good anymore... :( Got all the casters on, stood the unit up, and decided that with the extra height of the casters and their mounts, it's now too high, so tomorrow I'm going to rework the bottom of it and lower it about 5" or so. That will get the main section at a better height for me, and lower it enough to roll out of my garage the next time I move.

Additionally, today, my 3 books from Lost Art Press showed up, as did a very heavy box from Benchcrafted. Stay tuned for a bench build. :D

Well, this past weekend I finally finished my 'homebrew under blade table saw DC shroud' among many other small things such as making 5 ZCI's.

Today I finally finished hanging my outfeed table. See pics, as well as moving my guitars and making a quick she's goods storage area where my guitars will hang on the outside of. This also cleared the path for my new cyclone DC assembly. Pics coming soon...

A little HF never hurt... My 2.5 ton floor jack in good use... Not bad for $85!!!
