... actually it is a beaded bowl but from the side it looks like a stack of plates or platters.

Turned from some of the nicest looking Black Cherry that I have found. I wanted a bowl design that would show off as much wood as possible so I went with lots of beading on the side. Three to four coats of WOP, no buff as yet.

Size is 2.25x7.25, wall thickness ranges from 5/16" for the sides to 1/4" other places.
The one knot in the side had some minor checking, filled with coffee and CA inside and out.

C&C appreciated.

VERY cool the way the grain is continuous in the stack. Nice shape and great wood.,

That's not a shape that I would have chosen, but now that you've done it, I like it. The beading looks nice. What did you use for the beading?

Thanks Bob, yeah that was tough, the dishes keep wanting to spin.

Thanks Eric, the basic shape was there after rounding and cleaning the blank of saw marks and bark. I just hollowed it and added the beads. I have a mini 1/4" detailing gouge that I use for the basic bead then I finish it with a skew.

Pretty cool James!
Thanks Kathy.
