Barn wood cabinets

257892Can anyone suggest type of wood and finish to get this look with new wood? I have tried white ash, Oak and pine, Used vinegar with steel wool, tried eco wood treatment and lifetime wood treatment with different stains and have not obtained the results I am looking for yet.
I have some old pine barn beams that I sanded down and they have this look, as I would like to build cabinets with new wood and get this look.

Do you have any other photos that show the wood close up and in focus? I think I see medullary(?) rays, so my best guess from this pic would be White Oak quarter or rift sawn, with a brown stain and gloss varnish, but I could be way wrong.
