I have been able to attach pic's in threads but i cannot find a paper clip for attaching pic's in Private messages.I see where you can insert an image, but it requires a URL,and my jpegs don't have a url. Thanks in advance Rob

I'm not really qualified for tech support on vBulletin but, under your profile, there is an 'Albums' area where you can add pics to albums. You can then copy the URL of one of those pics and use it as you describe. Painful and clumsy? You bet. Another hokey work around is to create a thread and attach pics there as a dumping ground. You can then copy the pic's URL as described for the Albums but, I would use the albums.

I have experienced the very same as Robert and it doesn't seem that convoluted work arounds are the answer. Why can't posting images in a PM be just as easy as posting images in a thread? Seem like tech support could work that out pretty easily - they just haven't been presented with the problem yet (I'm guessing).

The brutal truth! We don't even want to consider allowing attachments in Private Messages. Purchasing fast hardrives is bad enough but having to provide the bandwidth for thousands of people to upload and download file attachments would be to expensive. I just purchased two more solid state drives to replace the existing ones as we are currently at 75% of capacity which is the practical limit.

So if we must post an image - send an e-mail. I can do that.

i can see the issue of space for the photo's .there still is a lot of photo sharing, esp. in turners forum. That is part of what i like about sawmill, not having to leave the site to view a pic privately. To make a pic available to all to view without leaving the site+ getting a one stop critique from all who view.Maybe a discussion can be started re. the $'s it costs for more storage or a charge per jpeg upload[a nickel a pic?] or crunch the no.'s and see what $'s would be needed so we can PM pic's.The reason, i think there are some that like the safety within sawmill communications and may be reticent to give out email address.I am not one, but i do respect peoples privacy. In the meantime i will do the work arounds.. Thanks Rob

I had a similar issue on a Home Theater forum. That’s when I educated myself on online photo sharing applications and opened a Flicker account. Problem solved.
