I have been using a Bessey 16 ounce non marring rubber mallet for close to 20 years.
I was using it the other day & a large chunk broke off of the head.
Looks like Bessey no longer makes these mallets.
Any recommendations for a replacement?

I did not think of the dead blow mallets. Do they dent wood?

I've used the large Bessey and its little brother for years. I recently knocked a chunk off the smaller one and have yet to find a suitable replacement.

That looks like a Nupla mallet branded for Bessey.

Isn't Sorbothane marketing their product as non-marring?

$50 is spendy for a glorified whanger - but hey, they last twenny years.

Sounds like Chris is looking for something with some give. The HF dead blow mallets will dent your material if you hit them hard enough but, I suppose that is true for anything. Let me say that I have accidentally dented material with my dead blow that I would not have with a rubber headed mallet. HTH.

I have the HF dead-blow and while it is fine for metal auto parts, likewise not sure if I would trust it on furniture. Definitely something softer.

How about a plan old white rubber mallet from HD or Lowes.
They are dirt cheap and readily available.

Thanks Steve, I will check those out. I would really like to find another mallet with a urethane head instead of rubber, but one of these will work for now.

They work fine. I'd buy a urethane one if I found one that suited my fancy but frankly I'd buy almost any tool if the price was right.
