As I learn more and more about using my TS I'm running into more and more issues

So, In an effort to make Dado'ing go a little faster I bought a dado stack set. Now I need a dado insert.

I have a (don't you dare laugh) Skil 3310 10" TS with a 7" dado set

Can I make a (safe to use) insert or am I forced into paying the near $30 that the insert costs.

For anyone that may feel inclined to look, the part number is 80077

edit: I attached a picture of the insert.

Thanks! (again)

Hi Jon, if you can make an insert with clips, or wood tabs to hold down the end, then you're going to be fine.

When I had a tablesaw I often made inserts for mine.............Rod.

Thanks. I guess what I was really asking is, can I do it safely.

because we all know, with the right amount of want, a dremel and plenty of duct tape you can make anything. :)

Hi Jon,

My old tablesaw was a craftsman job site saw with an insert very similar, if not the same, as the one you show. I made inserts for it with 3/8" plywood. To simulate the clips in the rear I used small dowels placed into the back of the insert, filed flat as required. The inserts worked well and were safe.
