But I finally bit the bullet last January and ordered a CNC router. I spent the last week setting it up. It’s a CAMaster Stinger 1 with a work envelope of 25x36x5. I built the table based on Mick Martin’s plans. I still have a couple of minor things to do before I can make chips but it is basically ready to go. The HSD 1.7kw spindle (2.3hp, variable speed to 18,000rpm) is really quiet, the cooling fan on top makes more noise. Other options include, Z-zero touch pad, Laser Cross Hair, Auto Spindle on/off, and Fast Tool Change.

Congratulations. Looks like a really sweet machine.

I'm now totally envious. And no, the KOMO is not mine...

Bruce,

The Stinger is a solid machine that will serve you well for many years. Taking the time to set it up right out of the box on a table designed for the machine is also a great idea and Mick's table design looks pretty sweet. It's a good thing your retired, you won't lose as much sleep as most of us have in the past when we got our first CNC Routers. The day job gets in the way particularly when all the fun starts :)

Now you need to make plans to attend the Aspire Camp at Jim McGrew's cabinet shop in Columbia South Carolina April 11th through the 13th :)

Looks like a lot of nice sexy ELECTRONICS in that baby! Are you sure a machinist such as yourself can handle it? :p

Thanks guys!

Chris, Chris, Chris, I was running NC machines back when you were ruining diapers. :p:rolleyes:

Keith, I haven’t had a good night’s sleep since it was delivered, I lay there thinking about what I want to do the next day! My only regret with the table was not adding a side door on the other side to give me better access to the back of the PC, it would’ve been easy at the time, oh well..
I hope to attend next years Aspire Camp. I’m so green at this right now that I wouldn’t know what questions to ask. Besides, by this time next year I’ll have upgraded from VCarve Pro to Aspire.

Now thats funny on both counts :)

After several years I still feel the way you do Bruce, tomorrow's projects are always on my mind and so are next weeks and next months projects. I can't learn fast enough
to keep up with the list of things to do.
