Here is my new 6ft. long 1.5" captured boring bar. I bought it on the 2 for 1 sale and have already sold the extra one. Tried it out yesterday and I'm here to tell you it is one sweet tool. Brian even threw in his video for free. It was just as easy as he said it would be to create thin walled vessels. This vase is my first atempt with the new bar using a light attached to gauge wall thickness. The unfinished vase is spalted birch about 16" high and 6" in diam.

I demoed one of these and although it worked well didn't think I could put up with the howl the light tubing makes.

The cutter that is supplied is a teardrop shaped scraper. The solid bar is made in 2 pieces that thread together and is very smooth to operate once the tool rest is sanded and waxed. The roller on the back stand allows the bar to be moved with only a light touch. Jeff not sure what you mean by "the howl the light tubing makes", maybe my hearing isn't as acute as your's but I found it quite quiet with no vibration at all. The 50lb. bar does a great job of dampening any vibration even when I was cutting 18" to 19" over the rest.
