The basket weave area is pretty nice. Is it carved or an inlay? How is it done?

Well done! Have you decided on a finish?

the basket weave is carved out. i first marked out the pattern then drilled the holes to a depth of 3mm as a guide to get the weave the same depth then carved the basket weave pattern by rounding down into the holes and then just squared of the holes . it took a long time but was worth it i still have to finish one side as the holes still need squaring (in pic 2 above) these are the pics i learnt from i googled it257119257120
