Came home tonight and finished the hollowing. By then it was getting late, but I decided to go ahead and try to get it all finished.
I added a ring around the top, burned some spirals for texture and then used the vinegar solution to ebonize it. The acacia ebonized very easily, probably because it was still green, and I'm much happier with the dark rim than I thought I would be. It really came together when I applied some danish oil.
It's about 6" x 6 1/2" with a coat of danish oil and topped off with some danish oil.

Kathy i like what ya did to the rim, and that acacia is always sharp. O the form is great also. Really like these full body pieces.

Thanks everyone!

I'm very happy with how it turned out and with the spiral tip I made. I've got some ideas for other tip shapes, so we'll see how those turn out on future pieces.

It's a knock-out, Kathy! The spiral pattern is very striking. What gauge nichrome wire are you using? 20 awg? Would love to know how you formed the tip so precisely.

Thanks David! The nichrome wire was 22 awg, I used the shaft of a small pick I have to coil the wire around itself and then just gently loosened the coil until I got a shape I was happy with.
