Picked up an old "V" line Millers Falls #4 plane today. Tearing it down to clean things up256891256892Just a $9 plane:eek: anyway, about the frog256893256894256895The top corner has a few cracks. They run all the way through. They also go through where the depth adjuster pin is located. other than the cracks, not that bad of a plane256896256897Thinking maybe some JB Weld into the cracked areas might help things stay together? Iron is now sharpened back up, after getting rid of a big bent in the edge. Sole is flat, now. Just a corner on the frog is about the only downside, so far. Iron is even stamped as a Milers Falls iron. :D

The iron sharpened up real nicely256904at least for some Pine scraps... Lever cap is now bare shiny metal. Chipbreaker needed no adjustments. iron is set about 1mm from the the edge of the CB. No chatter observed. Just a $9 plane??

It looks like a useful plane the way it is now. The cracks probably weaken the part of the frog that's used to adjust the blade tilt, but not the rest of the adjustment. I'd probably just leave it as is, and tap the iron side to side.
