A guy in town got into woodturning ,I think because of me.
He called the other day and asked if I was interested in going with him to look at an apple tree.
We drove a few miles out of town to an old farm and waded through a foot of snow to cut down a long dead apple tree.
Most of the stump was punk but the branches were worth the trip.
Here is a vessel I turned from the stump with a neat bark inclusion.
I added a cherry lid. 7 1/4 X 3 1/2
The other is a piece of red oak I got from Jeff Nicol with an oak burl lid. 5 1/2 X 3 1/4
Both are finished with spray lacquer.

Very nice indeed!

Can you tell us what finish you used? On lathe or off? Approximate sizes?

Lacquer on and off the lath.Maybe six coats.I use it when finishing a high moisture piece. It will drink a couple more after it dries out.
