I bought a lift for my router table and am looking for a good router. I see that WC has the PC 7518 motor only on sale for $259.00. My question is: Are current versions of this router worth the money?

IMHO it's the industry standard, everything out there is made to work with it and adapters for everything else. You have no worries.

Thanks Bill. I thought I saw a thread where somebody was complaining about the quality of the newer stuff. I have an older PC circular saw from my construction days that is still going strong, must be 25 - 30 yrs. old.

I have 4 PC 7518's, one of them is new. It's just as rock solid as my older ones.

It's solid as a rock. Works great in my Router table.

Thanks Bill and Alan... I went to the local WC and pulled the trigger on the motor only deal, $277.00 out the door. Now I just need to wait for my lift to be delivered.

7518 is a rock-solid tank.. the kind of tool that used to be the norm... with speed control. <g>

I thought I had this router but when I just checked, mine says model 75361. I've had it a pretty long time (10-15 years?) so is it just an earlier version?

EDIT: Poking around, I think the 75361 is the base for the 7518 and 7519 router.

So never mind.

Andy K, what router lift did you get?
I just pulled the trigger on an Incra Mast-r-lift. Got a great deal on a PC7518 (with base). Swapping out my 2.25 Triton router in my table now. The triton has been great for the past 5 years. Had to replace the worm drive, but it's been rock solid. I want a little more power and ease of use with the Mast-r-lift. Ordered a Wixey height DRO as well. Can't wait to get it all up and running.
