I pulled this piece of wood out of the wood box under my bench, someone told me this might possibly be acacia but I am not sure. I do know that it was like hollowing a rock. Roughly "8 x "8, 7 coats of WOP and have not buffed it yet it needs to cure for a while longer first. Hollowed to about "1/4 in thickness, it was catching so much my mini monster was bucking and heaving constantly. I hollowed through about a "7/8 opening. I chose not to do a lid and finial on this piece as I think it stands on its own nicely.

Very nice Tim! Beautiful form and wood and it sure looks like acacia to me with that rich, brown heartwood.

It looks like one of my forms I love making. You did a good job, Tim. You're calling it Acacia. Is that Catclaw Acacia, or is it some other type of Acacia?? ............. Jerry (in Tucson)

Really nice use of the sapwood/heartwood-in combination with your form it creates a very nice turning.
