got my new worksharp 2000 from amazon today.... box was beat to hell by UPS but it was packed well and seemed fine....
but... it is not putting a square angle on things, like something is minorly out of alignment....

is there an adjustment somewhere I am missing?

I start with a roughly square iron or chisel that the angle is off from sharpening... it works realy nifty to put the angle back, but the edge is uniformly out of square by a small but visible without a square amount.

any ideas before I call support in the AM?

Look in the manual. There's a little screw that that you loosen, I think. I forget now, but it's in the manual somewhere how to adjust it for square.

hmm not see anything in the manual or any screws other then the three that hold it togethor. There are three bolts under the disk, that look like theortically could, but I am not sure.

EDIT: It appears from my research the 3000 has an adjustment, does not appear the 2000 does

Worksharp describes the 2000 model as for metal working. Not sure why.

I bought the 3000 due to the limitations of the 2000.

sigh, it grinds very nicely, itss just very precisely innaccurate. Uniformly off the same amount every time

how do you like the 3000?

Alex,

I bought a 3000 and really like it. My tools have never been this sharp and enjoyable to work. I have only 3 hand planes and didn't like any of them. I sharpened them with my 3000 and enjoyed touching up the 50+ tenons on the swing I built for my wife last summer. I was using a simple Stanley block plane. I see a shoulder plane in my near future.

My chisels are more enjoyable to use too.

You know, I actually have a 3000, not a 2000. The 3000 definitely has an adjustment. For some reason, I thought I had a 2000. Yours may not have an adjustment.

There is a way (if a will.....).

Before you sell it and upgrade to the 3000, can you post some pictures of the guide mounting? Even if out of square by a small amount, a strategically placed shim or washer can often bring it back in line......

The 3000 has an adjustment screw that skews the ramp. It is located on the right of the ramp area under the wheel. I am surprised the 2000 does not have a similar adjustment. That assumes a pretty precise assembly team ;-)

Contact the manufacturer. They are remarkably great about responding quickly and addressing the issues you raise. I think you will be surprised and delighted with their response.

I'm not familiar with the worksharp but on my Tormek you still need to provide even pressure. If you're pushing on one side or the other you'll get an uneven edge. I don't know if this applies to the worksharp but I thought I'd mention it...

Did not get home early enough to call support today, but did experiment some more and by loosening the guide a little got a little better results.

Now, the arbor should be tight enough the fact that the bench it is sitting one is not level doesnt matter right?
I cannot see centrifigul force being enough affect the angle between disc and guide?

The bench won't affect it.

built a surround unit to make a level top to grind large irons on and that seems to work fine
