I am building a new outfeed island for my Powermatic 2000 tablesaw. The first photo is the before photo. The router table cabinet will be incorporated into the island, along with storage drawers and cabinets and possibly a downdraft sanding area. These photos show the new table temporarily in place.

I will post more photos as the work progresses. Thanks for looking!

The outfeed table consists of 2 separate torsion boxes combined together.

Hi Lance,

Welcome to the Creek. Your outfeed table really looks good. That is what I need to do. It is on the list...

Great job, Sam

Good morning Lance & welcome to the vortex. Nice job on the OF table. What kind of wood work do you prefer to do?

Well, where is the air traffic control tower going to be located? Planes are gonna want to land on that baby! That is awesome!
Oh, yeah. WELCOME TO THE CREEK!

Very cool. What was your thinking behind removing your cast iron extension wings and replacing them with the torsion box? I tend to prefer the cast iron wings since the added weight can reduce vibration. Not a criticism, just curious.

Thanks for the comments! I wanted to extend the table on the left side of the saw, and one of my goals was to build a seamless work surface (as much as possible.) The new outfeed table will be attached to the saw the same way the cast iron extension wings do. Because I will be placing my jointer next to the left side of the saw and have limited space between that and the wall of my shop, I couldn't come up with another alternative. Hopefully I won't have a problem with the vibration! The front part of the table weighs over 200 pounds.

@ Bill W - Well, if you ask my wife she would say shop projects and jigs! I seem to be best at case/cabinet construction, but I really enjoy building mission style furniture and the like. I am a master of none I suppose, but I do ok for an Insurance Agent!

Very nice Lance. I incorporated Kreg track into my outfeed table as well.

Very nice, I like the Kreg tracks on the outfeed table. That will be very handy for FF construction. Your blade storage also looks pretty cool.

Nicely done. I am in the process of building a 4' x 8' outfeed/assembly table myself.

Well planned and executed. I was considering something similar for a table behind my saw, nothing as elaborate as you have done. I am impressed. It had not occurred to me to place the saw on a platform, but, in my case, that would solve the problem of a very uneven floor. Level the base and the hard part is finished (in that regard anyway).

@ Andrew - I built the platform to raise it above the height of my jointer and to deal with a dip in the floor right where the saw needed to go. It raises it about 4" and I was concerned about the comfort level of the new height, but it actually works out great for me (I am 6' tall.)
