Folks - I'm in the process of getting my new Grizzly 0453PX into service, and had a question. In the manual, they show dust sleeves for the columns, but I didn't get any. In looking at the schematics for part numbers, I don't see any dust sleeves. So, I'm wondering if I'm supposed to have these (and, yes, I've sent a message to Grizzly also to ask) and, more importantly, if folks with this or similar planers have found dust in the threads of those columns to be a problem, with or without the dust sleeves. Assume reasonable dust collection being used. Thanks -

I don't think it's a big deal. My 15" planer with spiral head is about the cleanest machine in the shop. It creates little square chips of wood rather than dust, and the dust collector gets almost all of that. I do keep the columns waxed as a rust preventative. My planer never had dust boots and I can't say that I've ever thought about needing them.
