This is a Norfolk Island Pine bowl 7 1/2" wide X 5" high. It was the piece intended to be fig. 7 in the latest (April) Woodturning Design magazine article "Translucent Norfolk Island Pine." I screwed up and the wrong photo is shown over the description ""the knots resemble eyes of an animal." You can see that the knots in this piece clearly look like they belong to a cat-like animal.

Great shape Bill!! Coloring is amazing too. Not sure about the foot height though...maybe a bit shorter...or not!

Your NIP makes me want to go back to HI where NIP is plentiful and lots of eye candy. Well done. I did see the article and was wondering about the "eyes" comment. Now I know. Your process is a little different than what some of HI turners do, but gives excellent result.
