After nearly 5 years of trying, my wife and I are expecting our first child! We had been working on paperwork for adoption when out of the blue she wasn't feeling well and took a test just so she could tell her doctor that she wasn't pregnant. Surprise! The title one will be joining us on or around 10-19-2013:D:D:D:D:D

Congratulations Jamie! I never knew how much God loved me until I had children. It's the greatest privilege in the world and the biggest responsibility.....being a Dad.

But hey, have grandkids first, they're a whole lot more fun.

Congrats! At least what happened to a couple we rented from in Austin back in the 60's didn't happen to you. They had tried for years to have a child, finally adopted an infant, then she got pregnant. They had 2 kiddos under a year old. But I'm sure loved both to no end. Jim.

Congrats! Although had I known you were in the market, I could have shipped you a couple of fully grown teen aged boys to test drive indefinitely!:D

Seriously though, congratulations to you and your wife. It is wonderful to have youngins....

Congrats Jamie..!!!!!!!
Took my wife and I 5 years as well.

One word of advice......from experience.....whatever the problem WAS....is now more than likely fixed. Just a word of 4 children advice from a married couple that couldn't get pregnant without medical assistance the first time. :D

Be prepared for an amazing journey. It goes so fast your head will be spinning. Our son was born on my 35th birthday. My wife had three daughters from a first husband. Our son & his wife are now expecting their third child. The expected delivery date is right around our birthday. That would be a hoot.

We now have 7 grandchildren.

Jamie,

Congrats to you and your wife.

We are expecting our first grandchild end of April after a similar delay and difficulties – seems there is a lot of it about. SIL has a conversation with the little girl every morning before he gets up; baby’s hearing develops about 16 weeks or so - not sure if she can put her fingers in her ears yet :)

Enjoy

Children are wonderful. Friends of mine had adopted a child and the wife became pregnant a month or so later.

Enjoy your next phase of life.

Congrats Jamie,

Life will change for the better. Don't let woodworking be more important than spending time with your kids. My kids enjoyed coming out to hammer on blocks of wood when they were about 3-4. That faded out eventually. My 6 year old son finally came back out to work on his pinewood derby car for cub scouts. He was amazingly confident around power tools, including the bandsaw with close supervision. I tried helping a few other boys that did not have the same exposure to power tools. They were afraid to be near the tools.

It's a boy!
We just found out this morning. We had been hoping to find out in time to tell my father in-law, but he was called home to The Lord last night.

This Is a very bittersweet time for us, but we know that Don is in a better place and very excited that he finally has a boy (he had 3 girls)
Thank you all for the well wishes!

Sorry to hear about your FIL. But the news of the boy is great news. I used to always wonder when people talked about how great it was to have kids - thought there must be something wrong with them.

Once you have kids, it all makes sense, and you find you're "one of them" too.

He's here! Dominic Carl Lynch joined us after 10 hours of labor on October 30 at 7:41am. He's 8lbs 1oz and 20.5" long. I may be a little biased, but I think he's the most beautiful baby ever. There is nothing that can prepare you for that first moment when he comes out and cries for the first time. It is awesome!

Yes that is an amazing sound. He's a cute little feller. Hug him lots and take good care of Mom! She will need some extra attention for a while. Enjoy, you will blink and he will be 12.

I severed the extensor tendon on my left thumb 2 months ago. I just got cleared by my doctor to quit wearing my splint today. Which is good because Dominic doesn't like the cold plastic and sharp Velcro.
