I'm working on some wooden pendants and would like to paint and seal them. I figured acrylic paint would be alright, but I'm not sure what the safest varnish/finish would be. Does anyone make jewelry and seal it?

I hang it and spray shellac (or dip it)
If it's going to take some abuse, I'll dip
it in lacquer instead. But that can take a
month or more to really cure.

You can also try some polyurethane spray. Not much is tougher than that.

I have a good solution for your problem. It takes a little extra time, And also u have to use push pins. Take a push pin and put it in the top of your pendant. Get some Pour on Epoxy. And make a batch of it in a cup. Tie a sting to the pin and dip and hang over some news paper. The pour on Epoxy will bring out the colors of the wood that u did not even know were there. It is also some of the strongest stuff on the market. If the pendant were to get scratched or dented the stuff almost self heals... Allot of people use it for floors. U usually dip my jewelry and pendants about 2-3 times. One some time's works. Some time's though it needs a pre coat. Let dry for 2 hours and then do another coat. 2 coats and u can turn a piece of work into a work of brilliance.
