Who makes blades and dado sets for the Hammer K3?

Rich, I assume it uses the same pinned blade as the Felder. I bought the Hammer branded dado cutter. It's a very nice tool, more like a shaper cutter than the traditional dado blade. I've heard that Forrest will bore their dado's for the pins too.

Forrest will rebore and 6" is plenty big for the K3 to handle in the dado world. Dave

Rich, Forrest offers a pinned dado set that will fit the Felder saws, I own the Forrest dado set and love it. I use Felder blades, I have a 12" rip and a few 10" for general purpose, I usually get them when they are on sale, very good blades IMO.

The B3/K3 are limited to a maximum dado diameter of 180mm, so you typically can't bore out your old dado set and re-use it.

Hammer have a dado set that's really a shaper groover cutter.

I purchased an FS Tools set and had it bored to fit by them...................Rod.

Rod,

Called FS Tools today and spoke with a gentleman who knows you named Gary. He's very informative and polite. Unfortunately he indicated the "special US price" for the setup is about 50% higher than what you paid, $450 + shipping.

Hi Rich, yes Gary is very helpful.

FS Tools have US locations, can you purchase through them?

regards, Rod.

Why is the hammer limited to a 6" dado? I heard some folks say they use an 8". Do you have to do any additional modifications to support an 8"? I did order my hammer K3 48 x 48 with the setup required for a dado, but I am trying to sort out my blade situation. Going from a sawstop to hammer machine has its headaches.

The Hammer is limited to a 180mm dado by design, there isn't clearance for a larger diameter cutter.

The issue is that the spacer is removed from the saw arbour so the dado is installed to the right of the sliding table. This moves the cutter into the area of the trunnion support, which interferes with a dado larger than 180mm.

So you can use a dado larger than 6 inch, just not as large as an 8 inch............Rod.

P.S. Keep all your other blades, just have them bored to fit, it was about $20 per blade.

carbide processors has the Tenryu blades for the Hammer saw. I bought a rip blade, crosscut for solid wood, and a plywood blade from them. Terrific blades. But they don't have a dado to fit the Hammer, you might see if they could get one.

I recently asked a question about blade for the K3 slider. From the responses, I purchased these:

Industrial Blade Saw Blade, 250mm Dia, 80T, 0.128" Kerf, 30mm Arbor, Tenryu IW-25080ABD3
Industrial Blade Saw Blade, 250mm Dia, 80T, 0.128" Kerf, 30mm Arbor, Tenryu IW-25080D3
Industrial Blade Saw Blade, 300mm Dia, 28T, 0.128" Kerf, 30mm Arbor, Tenryu IW-30028CBD3

from Carbide Processors, which is a "friend" of this forum. There is a 10% discount for SMC member.

No experience with dado. I'm still contemplating between Felder/Hammer vs. Forrest.
