I was recently asked to make some tables for our church to be used at the front of the church for flower arrangements. I submitted a design that mimicked the existing furniture and altar of the church. The tables are made out of red oak, stained with Minwax Golden Oak stain and finished with Deft Clear Wood finish in semi-gloss. The crosses on the front of each table are inlaid Black Walnut.

Less than a week after they were finished they were put into use at a funeral for a senior member of our church.

“Looks like church furniture.” That’s what a customer told me years ago when he was trying to compliment me on the custom spiral staircase I’d just completed in his new home. “It’s so beautiful it belongs in a church.”

I’ll pay you the same compliment, Lee. It looks like church furniture.

Yes very nice - what I like the most about your project is its' simplicity and elegance. The crosses are perfect - contrast is beautiful yet not at all loud. They invite you. I like the tables.

Really well done. I hope your put the information inside the piece somewhere. In many years someone like one of us will investigate and be very interested in the story.

They look great. Did you carry the inlay to all four faces or just the one?

The inlay was done to match the pulpit and is only on the front. The backs are open so they can be used for storage.

Here's a photo of the main altar in our church so you can see how the style of the tables was made to match.255948
