I need to store plywood in a one car garage. The space is so full that the only open space in overhead. It's a typical third car garage with about 2 feet of open space over the garage door, when the door is open. I thought, if I could only build a hinged frame, that i could put plywood on, then swing it up to store. The hinge would be at the header, above the door.
Can this be done? Has anyone done it?

It could be done, but will be heavy as all get out.

I store lumber in an overhead loft. One of my friends stores plywood overhead. Personally, I would not want to store anytnig on a hinged platform. A few sheets of ply can easily weigh a couple of hundred pounds. With a little thought you could eadily minimize the risk of an accident, but your exposure would still be catasrophic. I say build a loft and figure out a way of lifting sheet goods onto it.
