Newbie here (new both to serious woodworking and this forum). This is a great resource and I look forward to learning a lot--and, hopefully, being able to contribute something worthwhile eventually.

I recently bought a used one-owner 36-454 in great condition. Made in 2000, it seems similar to many other Delta contractor's saws of the era, with minor differences as to accessories, cosmetics, etc. (Here's a random google link to a virtually identical saw: http://forum.ih8mud.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=441441&stc=1&d=1281558619)

I'm looking for the owner's manual, and extensive web searching has turned up zip. Would appreciate any thoughts on where I might be able to find one.

Also, looking for a dado insert and was thinking of making one from a zero-clearance insert. Problem is, I can't find one that says it's for my saw. I find them for unisaws, but nothing that ties to my model. I get the impression maybe Delta used a standard size for their inserts across all models for certain years. Is that correct? Been thinking about this one: http://www.amazon.com/Leecraft-DL-1U-Clearance-Table-Insert/dp/B0000223VB/ref=pd_bxgy_hi_img_y Will it fit? Any other suggestions?

Thanks for any thoughts.

Regards,

Jim

It's hard to tell from the picture but the same accessories for the Unisaw should fit your contractor's saw. I had a 1970's contractor's saw and when I got my Uni, I kept the dado insert, zero clearance insert, and guard and they all fit fine with minor adjustments.

Measuring the length and width of your stock insert would let you know if it'll fit...

Try Ebay for owner's manual or call Delta.
