Bringing home wood on a daily basis is normal for me but I found some nice Holly today and I have been working on cutting it up this evening. This is just one small piece that was 6" thick x 13" around. I hope to jump on cutting more tomorrow night. So far there is alot of nice blanks comming from it. This part has been sealed and ready for the drying process.

Nice haul...and a good time of year to get holly. I don't think blue stain is a aggressive when it's cold, so maybe it will stay creamy longer.

Wow! It's really hard to find Holly here on the coast. Lovely to turn. Great haul!!!

I had one of those holly days a couple years ago. Didn't seal it but had no cracking or discoloration. Cutting produced a trashcan full of sawdust, and one dead bandsaw blade.

Great haul, Donny! My bro-in-law near Blue Ridge brings me an occasional chunk of holly from his property when he's gathering firewood, but rarely more than 3" diameter/candlestick stock. Your bigger stock opens up a lot more possibilities. Congrats!

Well, I did get back into the brush pile where the Holly was today and pulled out more pieces. Looks like I will be cutting up wood for a while. I have a ton of Walnut,Cherry,Holly, and some nice Dogwood. My yard looks like a lumber mill with logs all over.
