My FIL's American Legion Post is thinking about putting in a display case that could hold WWII uniforms, Rifles, Naval gun site, Campaign Ribbons, etc. and I've been asked for some input. Have any of you guys done anything similar? I have a few ideas rolling around in my brain but not sure on the front glass. Wood frames with glass panes, or sliding solid glass doors? They wondered about putting it along a 10' section of wall, or in a corner. I'm not crazy about making it a corner unit, thinking a long wall unit would be better. The room is 10' high, floor to ceiling.

Any ideas or examples? They don't want anything extravagant, something that will show off the contents more than show off the case itself, if that makes sense.

I'm leaning more to a floor to ceiling unit built right onto the wall and about 14" deep. 12" header at the top which would/could house lighting. Maybe about a 24" enclosed base that could have lockable storage underneath. That would leave 7' for open display.
