I recieved a steak knife kit for christmas I made the handles out of Zebra wood. now wondering what the best finish for the handles would be. was going to just shellac and laquer but wondering how long they will hold up. would wood turners finish be a better choice? or maybe just some howards beas wax. Have any of you made these before and what finish did you use? Thanks again for all the advise i get here really helps.

Lacquer and shellac will not hold up as well as some of the wiping poly finishes. I haven't subjected the WYF to such abuse, but it might be a possible choice, and let us know the results if you use it.

I would probably use an epoxy finish of some kind.
